No one was happier at the SS13 shows than us when we realized toile was having a serious moment. When the toile interiors trend had a major revival a couple of years ago, we went nuts. Fabric wall coverings, pillows, furniture upholstery… we did it all. Our New York City apartment started to look a little Provence-meets-New England, and boy did we go with it. More toile! Keep that toile coming! Ruffian showed a ton of toile for spring, and when Carven rolled out this cutout dress, we just about had a toile-induced heart attack. You see, it’s pretty with a sweetheart neckline and all that, but the cutout gives it an edge. An edge with elegance, if you will. In other words, you can wear it to your cousin’s wedding in North Carolina, but everyone will still be able to tell you’re from New York.
