Before/After: The Easiest Desk Area Makeover Ever

There’s nothing quite like pure white to open up a particularly tight area. In this alcove/office area, we stripped it back to its white roots, removed the faux book front from the boxes and covered all the books with some super cheap white Kraft paper. Once we had an all-white canvas, we thought how fun it would be to create ink-spot type decor in the whole area. We wanted some flexibility with positioning and removability so we used simple black round decals in varying sizes, all ordered from Etsy. The result is kind of a cool, stylized office space that feels like you’re in a Dalmatian. In a good way.

The faux book front on wooden Ikea boxes were cute for a second, but got boring after a while, and the chair was a little uncomfortable. There was a lot going on, so it felt oppressive.

We covered the books in white paper and painted the front of the wooden boxes white and tried out this chair. Even with the big chair, the tiny space feels much more airy and light

We then added a bunch of various-sized dot decals we found for like five dollars on Etsy

The inspo for the dots was the round holes in the front of the boxes. How can we make those holes blend in, we thought?

Guess we wont be reading those books for a while

We switched out the heavy black chair for a Ghost stool and now the space feels clean and stylized.
