If you missed The Bangles reunion tour a few years back, and have never forgiven yourself, then you will be happy about this new band September Girls. The Dublin five-piece girl-band does garage pop in its most melodic, harmonic, indie-pop form. Something to note is that they are not doing a ‘Thrills’, in that they’re not trying to emulate their influences in a super-literal fashion. They have their own fuzzy noise thing going on, mixed with some semblance of Jesus & Mary Chain and a touch of Sonic Youth. Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie has been throwing their name around as a band to watch, and he even showed up to their recent show in London, so that’s a nice stamp of approval. We could talk about their sick personal style and pretty faces too, but let’s keep it about the music, shall we? Their debut album Cursing the Sea gets a stateside release in March. Check out music and stuff at their Soundcloud page.
