Since our evenings are frequently spent in front of the Real Housewives of Wherever, anything that makes us feel even the tiniest bit higher-brow is welcome. An example of this is when we shop and the store in question is also a gallery. One of the emptiest cultural activities saved by great art! Praise Jebus! We just love stores that incorporate this concept on any level, and when the art is by emerging artists, well you know, that just makes us ecstatic on a scale of one to smug.
Started by RISD grads Dakota Solt and Lisa Ziven, Crybaby Presents is a Los Angeles-based showroom, photo studio and by-appointment-only retail location for private shopping, and it truly marries fashion and art. We’re liking the fishbone pillows handmade by Ziven, who took the object imagery is from Do Not Remove prints by Solt. The inventory is carefully selected and includes desk accessories from the likes of Japanese paper company Postalco and Molla Space, eyewear from Illesteva, apparel by Katie Gallagher, Samantha Pleet and BLK DNM plus homewares from Natalie Lauren Chandler, Jason Miller and Dino Sanchez. Basically, if we had a store it would look like this.
