Way before anyone was making all leather everything, Veda was doing in. Founder Lyndsey Butler started the line five years ago, with a view to creating the perfect leather jacket, and (if you recall) back in 2008, it wasn’t actually that easy to find such a thing. She had a cute little store on Ludlow for a while, we used to go and hang out with our friend that worked there, sometimes pop across to the original Reformation store across the street. Chill times. In September, Lyndsey opened a new store on Mercer Street and we recently stopped by. It was more of a purposeful visit actually, since we’d seen this amazing hat on the Veda Instagram (cable knit with a leather band, it’s so sick) and had to get it. The store is a hidden mini gallery-ish space and you ring a bell to get in. Fear not, you can’t miss it, since VEDA is spelled out in ginormous neon letters in the windows flanking the entrance. Inside, you will find space-age silver arm chairs, and rails bearing current Veda collection, including the legitimately amazing Dante sweater with padded shoulders, leather tops, bralettes and leggings, plus of course Lyndsey’s trademark fine leather jackets. If you happen to not find the perfect leather jacket, well she will simply custom make you one. Just like that. Now that’s customer service right there.
