Stutterheim’s Perfect Yellow Raincoat Is Here

Stutterheim Designers // Fashion

It was a similar story with satchels. The Perfect Leather Satchel to wear as a handbag was nothing but a wish until Cambridge Satchel Company went and did not just the classic tan, but every color imaginable. And now, we are happy to report, The Perfect Yellow Raincoat is real. Very real. Swedish company Stutterheim (“Swedish melancholy at its driest” they say) decided it’s better to face great rainy days in style than hide indoors and, inspired by fishermen, they produced a range of rainwear we can only describe as a dream come true. Each raincoat is hand-sewn by a skilled seamstress who then numbers and signs the piece. Wind is no match for the seams on these things — they’re sealed and taped. The Arholma Grön, made from a heavy waterproof fabric with cozy cotton lining, comes in the aforementioned classic bright yellow as well as red and cobalt blue; and let’s talk for a second about the Lydia cape, handmade in a luxurious and hardwearing Italian waxed cotton fabric. They also gave the trench coat the Stutterheim treatment, collaborating on the minimalist piece with Kumi Edstrom Kawaii, former chief designer at Yohji Yamamoto.
